| Popis | Public funds are a major source of funding of sport around the world. Due to the existence of market failures, it is not possible to ensure that the objectives of sport public policies are met without public funding. However, improving the achievement of these goals cannot be achieved by only increasing public funding for sport. There are signifi cant structural diff erences between sport funding systems within the European Union. System in the Slovak Republic is focusing more into allocation of public funds for sport on national level while majority systems of fi nancing sport in The European Union are relocating higher volumes of public funds on regional level of the state administration. This paper is focusing on the main diff erences between systems of public funding of sport in selected European countries and on the relationship between the volume of public funds in % of GDP and the indicator of sports activity which is highly connected with the main goal of sport public policies – support of the healthy lifestyle. |
