The Department of Economics has been one of the key departments of the faculty since 1991, when the faculty was established. The department’s staff participates in the teaching of the main economic subjects, which are common for all students, as well as the teaching of many specialised subjects. In addition to teaching, members of the department participate in the professional research of several thematic sections – “Study of Competition in the Transportation Services Market”, “Institutions and Economic Policy in Transitional Economies”, “Quantitative Methods and Macroeconomic Modelling”, “Macroeconomic Modelling of the Behaviour of Economy During an Economic Cycle”, “Determinants of the Growth of Extremism and Populism at the Time of an Economic Crisis”, “The Brno Epistemology and Social Ontology Group”. The goal of teaching and research is to fuse the theoretical economic knowledge with the economical-political practice.
