Doctoral studies at ECON MUNI are taking on a new form. The new Economics, Finance and Management programme is based on smaller student numbers, individual research support and closer links with the international academic community. Štefan Lyócsa, the programme’s guarantor, explains why the format of doctoral studies is changing and what does it offer to students.
There can be an age gap of nearly one year between the youngest and oldest children in a single classroom. In the early years of schooling, this age difference has a significant impact not only on academic performance but also on students’ mental well-being and the prevalence of behavioral and attention disorders. MU has signed a loan agreement with the National Development Bank to fund affordable rental housing at the Bohunice University Campus. The residential complex, which will also include new halls of residence, will rise on the corner of Netroufalky and Kamenice streets.
As part of the final project for the Cyber Security Seminars, students Martin Oliver Gába and Tadeáš Ježek conducted cybersecurity testing at two educational institutions. The goal of the CSS project, supported by Google.org, is to convey practical knowledge in the field of digital security in an accessible way. Through a series of simulated attacks, a final reflection session, and a follow-up lecture, they provided insight into which attacker methods were effective and how staff members reacted in the moment.
For the second year running, Masaryk University (MU) has climbed in the THE ranking, which tracks how higher education institutions contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This year, MU placed 201–300 globally out of 1,603 assessed universities and ranked first among Czech institutions.
In the June edition of the international QS World University Rankings, MU was ranked 454th globally. It features in the top 300 for the indicators International Research Network, International Students and Sustainability.
The second comprehensive evaluation of research standards at Czech universities has once again shown that MU ranks among the country’s leading research institutions and holds a firm place on the international stage.
