Description The topic of philanthropy and giving has been receiving attention internationally for several decades. Like other areas of non-profit studies, charitable giving is attracting more and more attention from researchers in a wide variety of disciplines. However, in the Czech Republic was done in this area so far very little theoretical or practical research. This rather theoretical report reflects different understanding and definition of philanthropic behaviour. It answers the questions, what else can be considered as a philanthropy act, what incentive is behind, what the current philanthropic activities can look like, etc. The report also discusses some basic theoretical models that try to answer the question why people actually behave altruistically.
