Description Group identity plays a role in many kinds of social interactions. We present the evidence of the role of group identity in other-other allocations that have an impact on the decision maker's payoff. We show that group identity does play a role, but this role is secondary to the influence of decision maker's self-interest. Implications for hiring and promotion processes are discussed.
