Description The topic of this article is the relationship between economic growth and environmental pressure that is examined through the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC). The aim is therefore to determine the validity of EKC, as U-inverted relationship between two indicators: per capita GDP and ecological footprint. The method is based on analysis of empirical data of Global Footprint Network of 147 countries worldwide in 2011. We perform Ordinary Least Square regression analysis (OLS) on linear and quadratic function. Our Cross-country analysis does not show evidence of environmental Kuznets curve, because the quadratic function was at all GDP levels monotonically increasing. The results are compared with a similar study analysing data from 2001 that brought similar conclusions.
