Description Research and development is a key element of keeping the competitiveness and increasing standards of living. For ensuring the growth of research and development it is crucial to reach social agreement on importance of its support, to bridge the gap between the scientists and citizens and to get young people interested in studying science and technical fields. To succeed the tool of popularization is used. Popularization is a process during which the scientific facts are distributed among people in an interesting way that motivates them to seek more information. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the Czech popularization activities distributed through media and to deliver recommendations which would improve the level of popularization in domestic market. The article contains overview of popularization activities targeting the audience of children, youth and general public. The analysis of diverse informational resources, e-mail communications and interviews with front science promoters were used. These methods confirmed that even though there is a wider media space dedicated to science, there are still many gaps that should be filled. Gaps can be minimalized by making more domestic educational television programs, devoting more space to science topics in commercial television and radio channels, publishing new scientific magazines, increasing the level of content and user experience of internet pages, seeking new online marketing trends and using the opportunities of social media platforms.
