Professor Ladislav Blažek has been appointed Professor Emeritus for his extraordinary contributions to the foundation and development of the Faculty of Economics and Administration. Congratulations and we look forward to meeting you again at the faculty premises.

Professor Blažek is one of the founders of the Faculty of Economics and Administration, Masaryk University, leaving an indelible footprint in its entire history.

He started his professional career at Masaryk University in 1980 when he began working as a researcher at the Department of Economics and Management. Thirty years ago, he was one of the founders of the faculty, became its first Dean and led the faculty for almost a decade (1991-1999). At the same time, he was the Head of the Department of Management, and later led the Department of Corporate Economy (1999-2014).

Professor Blažek dedicated his academic career mainly to general management and strategic management of companies. He has published several articles and books in the field, which has gained him reputation not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the entire Central European region. In the 1990s, he participated in the formation of the discipline of management, opening ways to new concepts and their application in teaching as well as in practical field. As a popular educator, he was teaching at all levels of tertiary education, thus bringing up a new generation of experts in the area of management.

During his many years at Masaryk University, professor Blažek has always been an active member of the academic community and held a number of important positions – he was a member of the Scientific Board of both the FEA, and MU, sat in the Academic Senate of FEA and MU, was a team member of the Accreditation Commission of the Czech Republic for Economics, and a member of the MU Board of Internal Evaluation.
