Description The article deals with definition of the term “eco-innovation” and with the aspects that are related to them. Eco-innovations are innovations that contribute to reduction of negative environmental impacts caused by production and consumption. The article concerns with launching eco-innovations in the Czech regions and comparison the reached results with the results in the states of the EU. The most common reason for eco-innovations introducing is the need to meet the legislative requirements. This reason is more important in the CR than in most of EU countries. If companies launch eco-innovations voluntarily they are often motivated by voluntary codes. Recycling of waste, water or materials is the most common effect of eco-innovations for producers. The advantages for consumers are reduced energy use, reduced air, water or soil pollution and improved recycling of product after use. The article deals with support of eco-innovations from the CIP Programme. Only 3 participants from the CR were supported.
