Description The aim of the contribution has been to try to carry out a comparative analysis of innovative environment of two selected regions, namely the South Moravia region (in the Czech Republic) and Slovenia. We understand the innovative environment in the sense of modern institutional directions and theories, therefore the main characteristics entering the comparison were the following: innovative companies (entrepreneurial subjects) and innovative infrastructure (technological parks, innovative centres and incubators), human resources (students and graduates, research workers), institutions (universities and colleges, academies of sciences and others), and expenses for RaD. The comparison has brought results which in future will enable further work on the theme, which will thus lead to its upgrading.
