Description Wieser contribution to the evolution of monetary thought is significant especially for its overall approach to the concept of money. It provides the rough structure of basic notions, a framework which needs to be filled in particular segments by specific content to provide the complete theory. Some of the specific ideas provided by Wieser have to be rejected but the structure as a whole still stands firmly and still, after the whole century, provides challenges for future development of monetary theory.
