Description Greiners theory of evolution and revolution was published in 1974 and its findings are useful up to this date. Phase of evolution and revolution, as the organization grow vary from segment, externalization and ownership. Submitted article is engaged in family business conception, which differs by its ownership, its managerial and psycholgical characteristics from nonfamily business. Family business is presented in the concept of Greiners theory of evolution and revolution; it is most focused on the first three phases phase of creativity, leadership crisis and phase of profesionalizing. Main differences appear just in these three phases so they are the key phases for family business. Each phase is closely described, the main differences are mentioned and explained. Submitted article works with the latest knowledges in the family business area. There are presented researches from United States and also from Europe. Presented theory is taken over from world expert on family business. Information from research and theory is subsequently compared with these in Czech environment. In conclusion there are mentioned some recommendation concerning these field of study. This article is also the platform for my dissertation. Outlined knowledges will be used as the key variables for further research design.
