Description This article is in compliance with the European tradition of the research on public services provision and it works up the principles of the welfare mix and welfare pluralism. Article is primarily focused on the interaction and mix of the sectors than on the distinctions between the sectors. The authors mark out the public services sphere and stress their principal features predetermining the ways of their provision. In principle, defining public services examined are those which are part of the definition of government that is foreign affairs, arms, justice, revenue, and police. Resource mobilization functions refer to those parts of the society that create wealth and infrastructure. Traditionally these have not been tasks of the state, but over the years, governments everywhere have chosen increasingly to engage in this kind of provision. Social public services are those aimed at the advancement of citizens welfare. The authors also deal with the topic of some common or similar tendencies in public sector provision under the different social regimes and the criteria of the related decision making processes.
