Description The main goal of this paper is to describe the structural policy of Hungarian and Polish government from the beginning of transition till nowadays and its possibility to change structural characteristics of the above mentioned economies and help to improve economic growth. The scope our study is limited to state aid provided to the enterprise sector. We analyze the strategy of decision making, used types of state aid distribution, the target segments of aid and its institutional background. We also focus on how these variables affected the market environment of Hungarian and Polish economy, productivity of labour and the competitiveness of both Hungary and Poland.
