Description The study of selected natural extremes together with their impacts in the region of Moravia and Silesia is the object of the present publication. The natural extremes addressed in the present paper are further divided into the hydrometeorological and the geomorphological. The term hydrometeorological extremes includes meteorological and hydrological elements and events that either occur with sufficiently low probability or result in hrmful impact on the natural world and the human society. Geomorphological extremes include excessively dynamic or large-area geomorphological processes that operate destructively.
