Description The publication is divided into five thematic parts, introduced with an opening chapter about the aims, scope and methodology of the research project. The first part deals with the theoretical aspects of the roles of the state and of nonprofit organisations in the provision of public services. The second part of the book brings empirical findings about the size and the share of public service providers, including their participation in public funding and service provision. To give readers the complete information, a separate chapter is included with additional information about the presented data, including an analysis of the sources of data that were used. The third part offers analyses of individual selected public services in whose provision nonprofit providers participate. The analyses are aimed not only at the data about the funding of the services and their actual production on the territory of the Czech Republic, but also at the relevant public policies, legislation and systems of funding. The fourth part of the publication deals with selected methods of allocation of public finances for the provision of public services. The final part offers an overview of new research questions that the current research project has raised.
