Description The article analyses functioning of Czech business incubators and pays its attention especially to possibilities, ways and criteria of evaluating their effectiveness. The most often monitored indicators are the number of newly created jobs in incubated firms, growth of their revenue from sales and indicators of intellectual property rights. The contribution also deals with such things as how the incubators are financed, who is their founder and who manages them. For the clearness, there is comparison with functioning and performance of business incubators in Europe and as well as there are some case studies of business incubators from the Czech Republic. The article is also aimed at programmes for public support of incubators and at incubators which were supported from these programmes.
