Description Industrial production in Moravia has a long history and tradition. Original concentration of manufactoral and factory production was based particularly in Moravian/Silesian – Prussian borderland and in Brno and its surroundings. Together with coal mining development and related production (metallurgy and metal works) the Ostrava region experienced intensive development, which was an exception to a certain extent, since centre of industrial development relocated during the 19th century (thanks to developing railway infrastructure) inland into newly established industrial centres. The most important landscape changes and threat to its ecological stability was caused by massive concentration of production after 1945. The aim of contribution is to present some contemporary aspects of industrial concentration in relation to landscape and natural hazards with respect to historically conditioned industrial locations in Moravian regions.
