Description The paper delivers a comparative analysis of the analogous behavior of the two economies on different continents. The main objective is to compare the role of the state and the scale of its intervention in two consumer markets - the small-sized but developed nation of the Czech Republic and the emerging developmental state of an Asian economy, India. The Indian consumer market is an independent market with an impeccable role of the state’s interference while the Czech Republic follows the ‘Single Market Standard’ of the European Union with a liberal form of government control in this area. The article demonstrates interesting economic artifacts on the consumer pricing mechanism, anti-competitive agreements, state intervention, and the diverse role of the legislation.
