Description The present study describes and analyses the ethnocultural stereotypes that are widespread among ethnic Russians with regard to the Czech Republic and the Czechs as an ethnic group. It also analyses how these stereotypes are strengthened or weakened in the environment of online communication based on mediated as well as personal experiences. The sociologically inclined discourse analysis used in the study is applied to texts found in online discussion forums and commentaries on media texts and on portals and personal websites of Russian citizens who live or work in the Czech Republic. The study strives to show that in the current information situation, which is often described as an information war, both Russian and Czech media mostly function as catalysts that strengthen negative ethnic heterostereotypes, which often directly contradict reality and the immediate personal experience of ethnic Russians with Czech society.
