Description The aim of the paper is to analyse the insufficient level of technology transfer as a barrier to the introduction of innovation in the region. The technology transfer is investigated from the perspective of knowledge providers, i.e. organizations offering new knowledge. The existence of the technology transfer barriers is empirically identified through a questionnaire survey among a wider group of technology transfer providers across the whole Czech Republic. Using the weighted average method the barriers perception score is expressed and used for comparison of the significance of individual barriers. Based on this research, it has been found out that the most significant barriers to technology transfer are low motivation for mutual cooperation and insufficient researchers’ awareness of the business needs. Conversely, as the least significant barriers are considered shortcomings in the legislation on intellectual property rights and licensing.
