Description This case study aims to present partial results of a pilot thesis research whose aims was to adjust the research design and tools of a planned thesis research proper. The planned thesis is to investigate the effects of e-feedback on the development of sociolinguistic competence in ESP students’ writing together with exploring differences between two different modes of providing feedback on students’ writing. One of the research questions of the planned thesis research is to investigate differences in students’ responsiveness to two different modes of feedback provision. The results of the pilot case study investigating students’ responsiveness to these two different modes are discussed in the present study.
