Description The Czech Republic has been benefiting from financial support from EU funds allocated for the implementation of social innovations. Since 2012, projects have been launched focusing on the idea of social innovation with an emphasis placed on the implementation and possibilities of further practical applications. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the application of social innovations in practice, implemented within projects supported by the EU programme. This programme was the Human Resources and Employment Operational Programme, which was implemented between 2014 and 2015. The survey method was a questionnaire survey combined with interviews with respondents who were successful beneficiaries and implementers of the social innovations. The survey has shown that social innovation contributes to societal change and that public support for public projects is positive and necessary in order to create social innovation. The paper also demonstrates that the success of these innovations in supranational competitions has increased thanks to such innovative projects.
