| Description | The article discusses the possibilities (methods) to define the rural area. First, there are briefly introduced conventional methods of defining a rural area. It consists also an alternative method of defining the rural areas in the Czech Republic, which responds to the limitations of traditional and conventional methods. An alternative definition of rural areas in the Czech Republic uses indicators focus on occupied wellings, population density, employment in typical urban sectors of the economy, the ratio of employment to the economically active population and equipment of municipal services and facilities. Proposal for the definition is demonstrated in the Czech Republic as of the date of the last census of houses and flats 2011. |
