Description The purpose of this paper is to build on a few scientific texts dealing with the situation of the Czech employment and labour market policy after reforms initiated in 2010 and to find which role play employment projects financed from the European Social Fund in the Czech Republic and abroad during last few years till today. In the theoretical part we deal with the topic of European Structural Funds and employment policy in the European Union; the use of projects funded by the European Social Fund in the Czech Republic ; and the influence of European projects in the manner of administration and implementation of Czech and foreign employment policy in recent years. In the empirical part we present key insights on the process of formation and implementation of one local employment project focused on two types of high-risk groups of unemployed ( people with disabilities and people older than fifty years ), which was implemented in one of the regions of the Czech Republic during the years 2012 to 2014. In conclusion, we summarize key findings and propose specific recommendations on how local employment projects financed from the ESF funds should be more successfully implemented in the Czech environment in the future.
