Description This study examines profiles within specific online dating sites for environmentally aware singles identifying themselves with designation ‘green single’. This study is motivated by three research questions: What kind of people uses these sites to search for partners? What is their identification of green single based upon? How they impress a potential partner? At the base of findings from both quantitative and qualitative analyses of one thousand randomly selected profiles this specific group of singles is presented. This study also investigates self-presentation strategies and identity construction among green singles. The paper calls into question the stereotypical concept of singlehood that views all ‘singles’ as free individuals who have voluntarily chosen a hedonistic lifestyle without regard for the environment.
