Description The transformation of the landscape in the last two centuries is influenced more and more by the pressure of rationality and efficiency, which leads to the formation of industrial, monocultural landscapes. Despite this, in some regions remains largely traditional cultural landscape and this fact can awaken interest about an answer to the question of how and why in some areas is traditional cultural landscape better preserved and developed. This article will focus on the area of Mikulov region. The aim of this study is to capture the past and present of cultural landscape and thus the formation and development of cultural capital in the region and its present use. Particular attention will be paid to long-term trends of selected socio-economic factors with regard to their dominant role in shaping the landscape of traditional wine region through agricultural activities.
