Description The energy intensity is one of the most popular indicators in the energy policy debates. The text empirically examines the development of the energy intensity indicator in the EU-27 countries during the period 1990-2011. The results show that there indeed are observable differences between the EU-15 and EU-12 countries. Furthermore, the conditional convergence seem to better fit the data than unconditional estimates. The estimated half life lies in the vicinity of 20 years.
