Description Estimating the size and value of volunteering still remains the actual questions to be solved, even in the Czech Republic. Although the Czech Statistical Office provides data about size and value of volunteering in the Czech Republic, they grossly underestimate the current situation. There are notably more volunteers in some of the areas than the official data say and the same problem probably is with the value of the volunteering. Due to the nonhomogeneity of volunteering, it seems appropriate to have data in different areas, as the individual benefits can vary considerably – not only because of the different activities of volunteers. The chosen area of volunteering is emergencies. Aim of the paper is to suggest the appropriate research design for estimating the monetary value of volunteering in emergencies in the Czech Republic. For this purpose was discussed the possible ways of estimating the monetary value of volunteering in terms of emergency management in the Czech Republic. Methodology of the paper was based on the literature review and validating the applicability of the general approaches of estimating monetary value of volunteering in the matter of volunteering in emergencies. The paper’s conclusion presents recommended research design for estimating monetary value of volunteering in emergencies in the Czech Republic. This is the necessary first step for establishing of this value. Estimations of this value could lead to better management of the volunteers, encouraging the people to become volunteers and the better awareness of the government about the value of the volunteering. This could be important in policy making and deciding about financial support.
