Description The study compares the density of transport on the Czech railway network. It analyzes the Czech railway network finding several parts of it are odd today: these railway lines were created in different geopolitical situation and mostly due to military reasons. It is identified these lines and compare the transport density on these lines with the transport density on the rest of the network. These lines reached considerable lower transport density making parts of the network less efficient and competitive. The study may offer an alternative view of a railway transport’s deficiency and may stimulate the debate on structure and quality of railway networks.
