Map and evaluate the situation in a region where the interests of the powers conflict, where there are several frozen conflicts and where there has been a recent escalation causing a shift in the power balance. The aim is to analyze the interests and attitudes of individual actors (especially Russia, EU, NATO, Turkey, China and Iran), to outline possible scenarios and alternatives for further development and in this context to identify opportunities and threats for the Czech Republic. Research should have a strong security policy and economic dimension, notably with regard to energy resources.
