The aim of the project is to analyse economic-political systems in relation to railway transport using own methodology. Detailed analysis of historical development and a broader context of expansion of railways will result in formulating the conditions, which are favourable to railway transport development, under which the railway transport functions well and efficiently. The purpose of the project is not to propose a concrete reform of a concrete transport company, but to propose fundamental changes of institutional position of railway transport in the country´s economic/political system. Then a portfolio of possible solutions of the transport concept regarding railway transport will be created within the theory of economic policy. The principal output of the project will be a monograph summarising the methodological procedure in the analysis of institutional position of railway transport. The other outcomes are supposed to be three studies using the proposed methodology that will be focused on more specific application: Draft concept of institutional railway transport reform in the CR in relation to European integration, Analysis of transport policy in the EU in relation to railway transport, and Evaluation of potential and perspectives of railway transport in modern economy.
