LEAP Summit

LEAP Summit is one of the biggest international conferences for youth in South-East Europe. Every year, it gathers thousands of young people from more than 30 countries. It hosts world-renowned speakers and people from various industries. The focus of the Summit is on multidisciplinary topics – innovation, entrepreneurship, EU for youth, new technologies and life-changing stories.

LEAP in 2018 will be held from 15th – 17th of March in Zagreb, Croatia. General partner of Summit is European Commission and Enterprise Europe Network.

It is very good opportunity for young people to learn, engage and network with thousands of colleagues, entrepreneurs and investors from all over the world and is free of charge for all selected participants.

Conspiracy theories are also rooted in intergroup relations

Conspiracy theories are often explained as the result of disinformation, existential threats or a lack of critical thinking. However, a new international research project, RESPeCT, supported by ERC CZ and led by Magdalena Adamus at ECON MUNI, offers a different perspective. It will focus on the role played by relationships between social groups in the spread of conspiracy beliefs. The researchers will investigate whether support for conspiracy theories can be effectively reduced by improving intergroup relationships and attitudes.

New policy report: The age at which a child starts school can have a lifelong impact

There can be an age gap of nearly one year between the youngest and oldest children in a single classroom. In the early years of schooling, this age difference has a significant impact not only on academic performance but also on students’ mental well-being and the prevalence of behavioral and attention disorders. A new policy report systematically reviews findings from the scientific literature and contributes to the debate on the consequences of limiting deferrals of school enrollment.

Students tested institutions' preparedness for cyberattacks

As part of the final project for the Cyber Security Seminars, students Martin Oliver Gába and Tadeáš Ježek conducted cybersecurity testing at two educational institutions. The goal of the CSS project, supported by Google.org, is to convey practical knowledge in the field of digital security in an accessible way. Through a series of simulated attacks, a final reflection session, and a follow-up lecture, they provided insight into which attacker methods were effective and how staff members reacted in the moment.
