Scholarship opportunities
Foreign students admitted into Master’s degree programmes can take advantage of a number of scholarship programmes. ECON MUNI does not provide scholarships to cover your tuition fee, as our tuition fees are already subsidized by the Czech government. However, we provide eligible students with an accommodation grant (see below).

- Newcomers' Scholarship – Masaryk University offers financial support of 100,000 CZK (circa 4,100 EUR) to students enrolled in bachelor's and master's full-time programmes taught in languages other than Czech and coming from countries chosen according to the international marketing strategy of MU. Eligible countries include: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Georgia, Kosovo, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Peru, Philippines, Serbia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam. Application deadline: April 30, 2024.
- Accommodation Grant – Masaryk University students who meet conditions set out in section 8 of the MU Scholarship and Bursary Regulations may be awarded an accommodation grant.
- Czech Government Scholarships – Applicants from Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, and Zambia might be eligible for the Czech Government Scholarships. If you're from one of these countries, check the website of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports for eligibility and application details. The next call for 2025/2026 scholarship applications will be announced in July 2024, the deadline to submit applications (through the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports) is September 30, 2024.
- International Visegrad Fund – Visegrad scholarship for Master's and post-Master's students who are citizens of other Visegrad countries, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Serbia and Ukraine to study in Czechia. The deadline to submit applicaitons is April 15.
- Czech Ministry of Education – The Czech government also offers several scholarship opportunities.
- The Open Society Foundations – The OSF offer financial support to applicants within its diverse initiatives.
- IEFA – International Education Financial Aid offers financial aid, college scholarship and grant information for US and international students wishing to study abroad.
- Rotary Club – Through Rotary Club programs, young people can earn scholarships, travel on cultural exchanges, or help a community through a service project.
- Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans
- DAAD – The German Academic Exchange Service offers a very wide range of scholarships and grants for German students, interns and student trainees, (post)graduates, young academics and researchers.

Visa information
To help you navigate the visa application process smoothly, here are some essential details:
- Visa Processing Time: The visa process for the Czech Republic may take some time. We strongly recommend that you start gathering information as soon as possible. Being well-informed about the process ensures that you are fully aware of what lies ahead.
- Information Resources: The best source of information for what you need for the visa process is the Czech embassy in your country. They can provide the most relevant details about the visa application process. A summary can also be found in the International Student Visa Guide.
- Our Assistance: While we are here to assist you in obtaining your visa, please note that we are unable to facilitate appointments and our role and possibilities are rather limited.
- Student Visa Mode: The Student Visa Mode was set up by the Czech Government to simplify the visa process for students from selected countries who have been accepted to study at universities. After successfully passing the entrance exams, we will contact eligible applicants with more information. Being on the Student Mode list doesn't guarantee visa approval. If a student fails to provide all necessary documents during the interview, they will be taken off the Student Mode list, and they won't be considered for inclusion again. Cost of living
Brno offers a high quality of life for quite an affordable price. The cost of living in Brno is slightly lower in the Czech Republic compared to other EU countries, and you will be able to live comfortably without spending large sums of money. The monthly cost of shared university housing is between 120-215 EUR, private apartment would be for a monthly price of €200–400. Monthly public transportation pass is 11 EUR for students under 26, 22 EUR for students over 26.
