Popis Externally recruited employees tent to have lower productivity initially. In an experimental setting, we investigate the interaction of group identity, in-group and out-group affiliation, and the productivity of newly appointed workers in a company. Managers tend to have higher effort expectations of the internally promoted candidates but the actual effort level does not differ between internally and externally recruited candidates.
