Description The chapter deals with the interaction between the Czech economy and economic policy. It deals with economic development, fiscal policy (especially in the context of currency crisis), the role of the central bank, the attitude to the euro and social policy. The economy is characterized by low unemployment and high employment rates. In fiscal policy, the problem identified is the lack of cooperation between the government and the Czech National Bank. Accepting or rejecting the euro is a key issue for the future, as well as the social reconciliation of an aging population and an increasing demand for social transfers. Overall, economic policy was able to cope with the transition from a planned economy to a European market economy and maintain social stability.
