Description OBJECTIVES: The text aims to answer the question: How does crisis intervention training affect the maintenance of the boundaries of social workers, especially Christians, in organizations providing crisis intervention services? THEORETICAL BASE: The text is based on the discursive nature of social work, and defines professional discourse and specialization in social work. The primary professional identity is associated with the Person-in-Environment concept (PIE). METHODS: The answer to the research question was found by using data from broader research that emerged from semi-structured interviews. They were analyzed by using elements of constructivist- -grounded theory. OUTPUTS: The outcomes of the research describe the concept of Trained Professionalism. They define the basis of its characteristics and, at the same time, point out that, in order to avoid the dissolution of the boundaries of the field, social workers need to look at the crisis situation through the PIE concept. SOCIAL WORK IMPLICATIONS: The text could be used in practical settings as a guideline for preserving professional specificity and situations of specialization of social workers. It could be used as a stimulus to thinking about PIE and professional social work in undergraduate and life-long education.
