Description The article deals with the theoretical and methodological approaches and the practical tools used for the evaluation of the effectiveness of public investment projects, in the context of the application of the principle 3E. The main attention is paid to two types of projects: projects of construction/reconstruction of roads (linear type) and projects of regeneration of brownfields (point type). The collected theoretical and methodological knowledge were practically used to create the original methodological approaches based on multi-criteria evaluation of the effectiveness of these types of projects. Regarding this, the territorially oriented approach was defined in the case of the roads and the user-oriented stakeholders´ approach in the case of the brownfields.
