Description Small and medium-sized enterprises are commonly considered as corner stone of economy. They significantly participate on output of national economy and employment. In the paper there is brief analysis of the output, gross value added and consumption of fixed capital in Czech enterprises. Employment is also briefly analysed in breakdown to employees and self-employed persons. Secondary there are data presented according to the number of persons employed division – one of the criterion of small and medium-sized enterprises. The aim of the analysis is to prove first two statements and identify the most interesting branches for small and medium-sized enterprises or potential new start-ups.
