Description In the paper is introduced a new comprehensive mathematical model of forecasting the generation and treatment of municipal waste (MW), which was developed for the modelling of waste with the household waste. It consists of two separate submodels is: the submodel of WM generation and the submodel MW treatment. The submodel MW generation was created as a multidimesional linear model of MW generation in municipalities, which depends on the socio-economic parameters which have been calibrated on the sample data from the annual reports of the 6250 municipalities of the Czech Republic about MW generation and treatment. The submodel WM treatment was created on the basis of the analysis of the composition of WM structural decomposition and on ways of WM treatment of individual WM streams as the model 72 nonlinear equations, which was implemented and solved using Maple. This comprehensive mathematical model brought a new decision support tool for the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic in the area of waste management (e.g. national law, grant management, building new facilities, etc.) and has been used for the new waste management Plan in the Czech Republic for the period 2015–2024. It is also possible to use it for all EU Member States.
