Science and projects at ECON MUNI 2025
As the new year begins, we look back at the past year of science and projects at ECON MUNI.
Two majestic book scanners ElarScan are ready to provide their services in our library.
The scanners capitalise on the principle of capturing images from the top-located camera, which stands for the quick and easy scanning process. The books are places naturally into balancing cradle, so users have to merely turn pages and push scanning button (or foot pedal).
In addition to the balancing cradle with the possibility of an adjustable angle of the book openness the scanners are also equipped with a touchscreen panel showing a live preview of scanned pages, illuminating reflectors and USB ports intended for user's storage media. There is a possibility of generation text-enhanced PDF too (using optical character recognition mechanism).
Both scanners were purchased thanks to EU funding program.

The ROBUST project, in which Masaryk University's Faculty of Economics and Administration is involved, organised a workshop in Brno in September where researchers from ECON MUNI presented the results of their research on the coordination of public institutions. The focus of the meeting was how to strengthen the preparedness of the state and local governments for crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and why cooperation at the local level is key to effective and robust governance.
