In the first year of study, doctoral students will focus mainly on the course work (list of courses can be seen here) and gathering all relevant information, which you will use in the doctoral thesis. Which subjects are required to pass? Regional Economics, Innovation and Regional Development and Regional Research Seminar represent the subject of our Department, Econometrics and Methodology are subjects compulsory for every student in the Faculty. During the second year, the doctoral students are expected to present their work at the seminar or conference, they will also be preparing their doctoral thesis and at the end of the 4th semester the Final State Examination will be held. For the next 2 years, doctoral students will focus on preparation of their doctoral thesis.

Throughout the study, PhD students participate in teaching and conducting seminars within bachelor and master study programmes and work in various research teams, for example, under the guidance of the Research Institute for Innovation. The most important part of the study consists in publishing in specialized journals and writing the doctoral thesis.

Throughout the course, PhD students will be able to attend various summer schools, professional seminars, workshops and conferences both abroad and in the Czech Republic. Students should also complete an internship.
