...how to become a doctoral student in the Regional Economics programme
You can apply twice a year in this programme to start in the fall or spring semester. The nearest period for submitting applications is from 15th October to 15th December. When you decide that you want to study our program, you must first choose an appropriate doctoral thesis topic and contact your future supervisor before the submitting of an electronic application. You can find a list of possible supervisors here.
You may choose your thesis topic from the current list of topics. Each topic contains a brief description along with the general goal of the thesis. Further details on the topic may also be the subject of your meeting with a potential supervisor.
Can I choose my own topic?
Yes! However, keep in mind, that if you want to come up with your own topic, you need to get in touch with your supervisor before. Why? Because your proposed topic, has to pass necessary approval procedure. After approval, nothing should stop you from joining the doctoral programme!
The doctoral thesis essay
Once you have an appointment with your supervisor, you have to write an essay (8-12 pages) that should summarize the relevance of the topic using the state-of-the art literature and your own thoughts about the subject and methodology that you will use during the preparation of the thesis. When writing an essay, keep in mind that your essay will not only illustrate your professional skills but also motivation and other prerequisites for doctoral studies.
