The first gender equality audit took place at ECON MUNI in 2021. Based on the findings from the audit of its faculties and components, Masaryk University then created the MU Gender Equality Plan for 2022–2024. A number of measures were implemented to support gender equality at the university and faculty levels, which you were continuously informed about. An example is the opening of the MU Elánek children's group and the introduction of a kindergarten financial contribution, the creation of a methodology for resolving cases of sexual harassment, the establishment of the position of an ombudsperson, the provision of psychological counselling to employees, the implementation of educational events not only for managers, the creation of a data warehouse, newly created or updated regulations, and many others.

Three years after the first audit, the second faculty gender equality audit was conducted, which allowed us to compare the situation three years ago and now. Using the same methodology, we again examined the situation and made recommendations in eight areas:

  1. organizational culture,
  2. combination of work and family life,
  3. recruitment and selection,
  4. functional progression,
  5. balanced representation of women and men in leadership positions,
  6. measures against sexual harassment and other forms of gender-based violence,
  7. inclusion of the gender dimension in research and innovation,
  8. studies and student population.

During the audit, a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the state of equal opportunities and working conditions at ECON MUNI took place. An analysis of internal regulations, documents and processes was carried out, as well as a content analysis of promotional materials. Available statistical data was collected and evaluated in the area of the number of men and women at different levels of study, in various positions and functions, in the area of remuneration, career progression, flexible forms of work, etc.

We also obtained important inputs for the audit from the outputs of the annual evaluation and questionnaire survey and focus groups that took place as part of the OPEN project. Many thanks to everyone who participated in the interviews!

We summarized the outputs in the final report and forwarded them to the university rectorate as a basis for creating the MU Gender Equality Plan for 2025–2028, which is already in force. The report also contains proposals for specific measures for ECON MUNI, which we will implement in accordance with the university plan.

More information on the topic can be found on the Gender Equality at MU website (translation in the process).
