Currently there are five PC-equipped classrooms at this faculty. Out of this number, VT1 and VT3 study rooms are freely accessible for students. On the other hand, VT2, VT4 and VT5 labs are designed for instruction only. The total number of computers in all rooms is 147, out of which 72 PCs are located in study rooms and 75 in computer labs. In the VT3 room, there are six computers (PCs 47 – 52 – see the VT3 plan) referred to as “stand-up PC stations” used for quick email check or matters in the IS. One computer with a touch-screen is located in the corridor and it is used for the same purposes as the “stand-up PC stations”.
An ISIC card, owned by every student, enables them to access the study rooms and labs. Every student has to register when entering a lab or study room by placing their card on a sensor next to a lab door; similarly, they have to log off the system with their card when leaving a lab or study room.
Computers in the VT1 – VT4 rooms are equipped with Microsoft Windows XP Multi-Language pack operation system. In addition, office packet MS Office 2003 Multi-Language pack is also available on all PCs in VT1 -VT4 rooms. In the VT5 room are computers with Microsoft Windows 7 operation system and MS Office 2010. Besides, there are additional utilities available, such as Adobe Reader, Irfanview, PDFCreator, Servant Salamander, etc., and teaching software Matlab, Maple, Statistica, Witness, Pohoda, MoneyS3.
